v0.4 turned Curated from a question-and-answer tool into a content generator. Instead of a paragraph in a chat thread, you started getting deliverables you could share.
What shipped
- PlaceStory™ — point at any location and Curated generates a scrollable, multi-chapter narrative covering demographics, foot traffic, key destinations, comparable places, and what makes the spot distinctive
- Spatial-analysis agent — point-in-polygon counts, custom-boundary attribute filters, drive-time isochrones, buffer rings — exposed as agent tools rather than only as map operations
- RAG knowledge base — retrieval layer over Esri Tapestry segmentation and the Curated methodology library, so the LLM cites real sources instead of recalling from training data
- Measurement tools — area and distance calculations on the map
- Location search — type a place name and Curated zooms there
Why it mattered
A chat answer is throwaway. A PlaceStory™ is a one-page brief you can paste into a deck or send to your CEO. v0.4 was the version where Curated stopped feeling like a chatbot and started feeling like an analyst on your team.
The RAG layer also closed our biggest credibility problem: previous answers occasionally hallucinated. After v0.4, every answer points to the document, layer, or dataset it came from — and if there's no source, Curated says so instead of making something up.
For users
To create a PlaceStory™: ask Curated for a "story" or "narrative" about an address, parcel, or trade area. The artifact saves automatically and can be reopened, shared via URL, or exported.
